(We are extremely thankful to  young poetess Ms.  Swapna Amrutkar for sharing her literary work with e-abhivyakti.  Today we  present her special poem Yes, you are the Witness on the eve of World Poetry Day. )

☆ World Poetry Day – Yes, you are the Witness ☆

Feelings are floating

Like a silent river

With fair and unfair

Every new thought deeper, 1

Yes, you are the witness

Some emotions overflow

May heart beats squeezes

Some incident happened

& seasonal memories breezes, 2

Yes, you are the witness

Life changes in a second

Unknowingly hard time comes

My words becoming my weapon

And Poems becomes realities, 3

Yes, you are the witness

At every turning point of life

I follow my Index finger

You became my sharing box

And friends are Pen and Paper, 4

Yes, you are the witness

☆ Weekly column  Poetic World of Ms. Neelam Saxena Chandra # 29

☆ Half  ☆

The frozen evening is buckling her thoughts,

Long emptiness covers the eyelids-

She is afraid to leave it open,

Lest it attack the world with a vengeance,

And if she closes it,

The void powerfully sucks her body,

Fragmenting her into pieces!

She leaves it half-open,

Doing everything partly is the fad of the era;

Words you wish to snarl

Lose their velocity as they glue to your lips,

You dare not let them be free for fear of reactions,

Nor do you let them remain within for the hurt they cause,

And they voicelessly stutter on the pink edges…

Following the trend has only been an easy option,

Only she doesn’t know what to do with the swollen heart

That has accumulated emotions all around!

(All of the literature written by me was for self satisfaction. Now I started sharing them with you all. Every person has two characters. One is visible and another is invisible. This poem shows us mirror.  Today, I present my poem ‘An innocent baby/Lesson to humanity ’.)

My introduction is available on following links.

☆ Weekly Column – Abhivyakti # 11

☆ An innocent baby/Lesson to humanity ☆

 An innocent baby girl

in my neighbourhood

suddenly reminds me:

my daughter’s childhood.

Whenever she comes

to our home

suddenly she enthrall us

she fills our heart

with unlimited energy.

Her crawling on knees

in the house

suddenly reminds us

our kids’ childhood

and

we are forced

for crawling

on knees

with her.

Her innocent

crawling

towards us

in our arms

on our lap

claims her right

unknowingly

reminds us

her relations

our debts

of previous life.

Her childlike activities

her laughter

her obstinacy

and

above all

her pure heart

as of almighty God

suddenly compels and inspires us

to shower

the blessings on her

she may flourish

she may grow well

however,

her heart must be pure

as it is today.

She does not know

this world

the ups and downs

black and white

man and woman

race and religion

rich and poor

composite culture.

Suddenly I recall the story

‘Kabuliwala’*.

I am afraid.

She will certainly

forget us

when she will grow old

and

for this

you all will be answerable

you all will be responsible.

‘You’

you – the society

you – the contractor of the society

you – the contractor of the religion

you – the media

and

perhaps to some extent

me too

I – the present

I – the mirror

I – the humanity

I – who could not fight

with you.

However,

I will play

my role of humanity

and

from time to time

I will show you

the mirror

so that

you will not  dare

to toss a pebble

on our calm river

of the great composite culture.

Nothing is impossible

if you can keep

your heart clean,

as the heart of

an innocent baby girl

in my neighbourhood.

Familiar yet  ominous smell

☆ Growing up  ☆

I need to grow up.

My body needs to stoop,

My hair needs to grey,

My hairlines need to recede,

My veins need to come out

From the back of my hands,

My feet need to tremble

While walking,

My skin needs dryness

That refuses the moisturiser;

But more than that

I need to learn

To let go.

Yes,

I need to grow up!

☆ Respect  ☆

I’m not

as you are thinking.

You have seen

my body;

the dress of soul!

Don’t respect me

Try to search

If you succeed

then

I will respect you

else

you disrespect me.

☆ International Women’s Day Special ☆

☆ (English  Version  of  Poem by Mrs. Nirdesh Nidhi  –  “ Listen Dhaniya” – by Captain Pravin  Raghuwanshi

Listen, Dhaniya!

I saw you yesterday,

Across the green-yellow

mustard field

Basking in orange

hued setting sun…

Bright pink saree tied

tightly at the waist

How did you know that a

pack of lush green grass

would match with it so nicely!

On the narrow pathway

across the large green canvas

Where you move with full swag,

with rhyme and rhythm…

Though laden with cruel

bulky-weighty burden…

On beauty pageant ramps,

Every young damsel,

swaying on catwalk,

Would only be stupefied…

See you rhyme with the

melodies of  your bangles…

Winds blow like avians with

the push  of your

incessant heaving breath,

Tinkling of anklets

Fills a melody in your

inebriating celestial gait…

Hidden in your swaying

half-opened hair is

the fragrance of Jasmine

Your careless sluggish yawns,

in the effulgent sunlight,

Your chaste juvenile youthfulness

Reaffirms the faith of God’s existence on earth!

So what, your rough untiring

hands are not so tender…

So what, your ankles are not

so pinkish and soft…

You fight alone in this world

with beastly human wolves,

Pass through fearlessly,

forests filled with vulturous animals

You pierce through

every trouble smilingly

like a knife through the butter

Who can ever dare say,

you’re not the

Abode of the strong modern woman…!

Tell me, Dhaniya.
