English Literature – Poetry ☆ The Grey Lights# 61 – “My Wife…” ☆ Shri Ashish Mulay ☆

Shri Ashish Mulay

? The Grey Lights# 61 ?

☆ – “My Wife ☆ Shri Ashish Mulay

My wife is not a very ‘Good Wife’

for she is a ‘Better Friend’

Though she never cooks for me

yet the food tasted always good

For she never ate without me

My wife is not a very ‘Good Wife’

for she never stopped me

Though she never came with me

yet I travelled the distances

for she didn’t stop me

Neither she gave gestures of love

nor the tantrums of hate

yet in silence she thought about me

My wife is not a very ‘Good Wife’

for she loves ‘My’ children more than me

She once was my lover

then bore my children

but became my mother indeed

They bare my name

and will carry my lineage

yet she gave them, her everything

My wife is not a very ‘Good Wife’

for she set me ‘Free’

Oh she loves me now so less

that she bares the pain

As I speak my mind to women

Oh she loves me now so less

that she ‘Understands’

I am Loveless

But My wife is not a very ‘Good Wife’

for she is like my ‘Poetry’

most beautiful only to my eyes

but mundane to others…

?~ Outcome ~??

It’s pointless to argue

about the outcome…

What is garnered,

that only expands…

If you plant a sapling

It’ll grow into a tree,

sustaining the life…!

If you sowed concrete it

would result in barrenness…!

Devouring the humanity

from the face of the earth…

Underlines the adage:

You reap what you sow…!

☆ – “I choose to Smile ☆ Shri Ashish Mulay

I choose to Smile

not over her but for her

for how can one smile

over his own Love

I choose to Smile

for she is doing

exactly the same thing

I would do in her place

I choose to Smile

even though she is smiling

for She wouldn’t cry

If were in my place

I choose to Smile

even though she isn’t with me

for it’s impossible to be

So She remains young in my eyes

I choose to Smile with tears

even though I am wounded

for when blood flows out of the wound

The same wound brings her in…

?~ Seed ~??

On blazing dry arid land,

Trees standing with stumps,

Yellow grass waiting for its last rites,

Scorching flashes of the sun,

Cracks in the fractured soil

That seed is still lying

between these cracks…

I am not at all crestfallen…

This seed is the center of my hope,

This tiny seed contains within itself

enormous possibilities of

—becoming a tree

— giving shade,

—bringing rains

—giving fruits,

And yes, above all

—giving a new seed again,

I am not disappointed,

This seed is the center of my hope…!

?~ Contemplation ~??
Just a contemplation,

If death can come

at any stage of life,

then why can’t life

begin at any stage?

Steps were taken,

The journey was made,

Breaths were consumed,

Experience was accumulated,

Something was given,

Something was received…

The semi-circle got completed,

Roles got reversed

If you can make the

remaining breaths

worth journeying,

Then only,

accumulation is worthwhile,

Else,

Breathing is futile..!

Remember,

Everyone adds years to life,

but only a few

breathe life into years.

Your rarity

is waiting to blossom…!

With resolute severity, you fiercely guard your ardent devotees,

Never ing to protect your worshippers all the year round
