☆ – “Behind the Bars…” – ☆ Shri Ashish Mulay

Do not put her behind the bars

for her heart may begin to beat

and when it begins to beat

your beliefs will dance to it

behind the bars she may find

find herself stretching beyond bars

and when she finds herself

you will not have place to hide

do not set her bar so high

So high that she might touch it

and when she touches it

your soul will feel it

who knows when her heart beats

she may create a world

world on that side of bars

only to cage you in your own…

English Literature – Poetry ☆ The Grey Lights# 01 – “Choice-Heist…” ☆ Shri Ashish Mulay ☆

Shri Ashish Mulay

 ? – “Choice-Heist…” – ? ☆ Shri Ashish Mulay

(A weekly column ‘The Grey Lights’ by Mr. Ashish Mulay)

Prologue: This poem is about the original mistake humankind has made… from which all the discriminations are born and has made human life miserable. That first mistake was not considering women as equal human… and using force to bend her will. No other animal in nature does that to his own species’ better half… and unfortunately for survival the better half had to weaponise the most beautiful thing in the world – “love.”

…and span of this mistake isn’t limited to only man and woman relation, but you can see it everywhere from kings oppressing subjects, bosses suppressing subordinates, teachers suppressing students and so on…I hope power is not used against the weak… power is for thorns not the flowers.

I have realised it

You hated my force and power

as much as you loved it…

It was me who first misused it

It was me

who moved against

the nature’s wit…

inside your softest heart

I nailed the insatiable ego

that’s the original sin

I did eons ago..

in quest to

become a man

I called you beast

oh, I did a choice-heist..

used the force

against you

only to force you

to use all yours…

what a fool

I was in reality

never understood that

you had a gravity…

gravity that can make

planets move

even the stars

collapse in your groove…

I have realised

my mistakes

and disastrous attempts

that I have made..

but you held

my hand like a mother

and walked me alone

in the darkest hour…

now in the darkness

I am all alone

for I am the one

who indeed has fallen…

in this darkness

I shall burn

your void is what

that made me learn…

to create the light

I shall burn

burn with mightiest flames

so others can learn…

I shall burn

until the dawn breaks

or

until my heart wrecks…

She manages business relations at international level and participates in academic activities as well.  We are pleased to share her eminent literature with our enlightened readers.)

? ~ Eerie Emptiness… ??

I sit by the river watching the sun go down

The dancing orange water, set the fire below

Sun retreating leaving behind the still darkness

But the blazing embers veiled set the sky aglow..

I feel the lonliness, through the melancholy of my soul

I know I have lost out slowly my place in your heart

The Sun in all its dusky beauty, kissing the mountains

Still too far from the earth, together yet so far apart

Sitting in noisy silence, as my heart keeps on breaking

I fight my sombreness and unfathomable hollowness

Only the sun would understand my everlasting aloofness,

As no sound can ever fill my inner eerie emptiness…!

? ~ Compulsion… ??

[1]

Fish can’t show

her tears

and the sea

can’t see it…

This is a helplessness..!

[2]

Whether it’s

cloudy or not

or raining or not

some frogs have to croak

This is a compulsion..!

[3]

Ther’s a nexus

between the water

and the officialdom

Some people try to

douse the forest fire

with the words only…

This also is a compulsion..!

[4]

Rats want

to bell the cat

but in the dream only

This too is a compulsion..!

[5]

Thorns may be like this

or like that

But, under the feet

of hypocrites

They’re never laid

like the flowers…

They both have their

own compulsions..!

? ~ Black Bird… ??

A black bird

while flapping wings

Keeps banging its head

against the walls

Flying around vehemently

looking for shelter

I keep staring at her from

the comfort of my bed

Keep wondering

what is she looking for

Some place..? Some safety?

Now, that poor helpless bird

is not to be seen anymore

It may have gone away

Must have migrated

to a better environs

Listen, O’ dear black bird!

Must you grant me forgiveness

Come back if you can

I’ll plant some new trees for you

For you to make a nice cosy nest…

English Version by – Captain Pravin Raghuvanshi

? ~ Existence ??

In the midst of the skyscraping

mountain peaks

found my stature too short,

Looked back,

down the road

found some points moving,

These were the passers-by

whom I had left behind

on my way up…

I’m at the height, I’m way too high

My ego got inflated…

Suddenly met with the peaks,

Inside and outside merged in unison,

Realisation dawned,

even at the top,

smallness has not gone

Then, what has left?

Even at the peak

I couldn’t even win myself

Then what have I won…?

In the shade of the mountains,

under the sky,

Feeling of dwarfness engulfed me,

But now my height

was touching the summit..!
