Captain Pravin Raghuvanshi —an ex Naval Officer, possesses a multifaceted personality. He served as a Senior Advisor in prestigious Supercomputer organisation C-DAC, Pune. He was involved in various Artificial Intelligence and High-Performance Computing projects of national and international repute. He has got a long experience in the field of ‘Natural Language Processing’, especially, in the domain of Machine Translation. He has taken the mantle of translating the timeless beauties of Indian literature upon himself so that it reaches across the globe. He has also undertaken translation work for Shri Narendra Modi, the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, which was highly appreciated by him. He is also a member of ‘Bombay Film Writer Association’.

Captain Raghuvanshi is also a littérateur par excellence. He is a prolific writer, poet and ‘Shayar’ himself and participates in literature fests and ‘Mushayaras’. He keeps participating in various language & literature fests, symposiums and workshops etc. Recently, he played an active role in the ‘International Hindi Conference’ at New Delhi.  He presided over the “Session Focused on Language and Translation” and also presented a research paper.  The conference was organized by Delhi University in collaboration with New York University and Columbia University.

In his naval career, he was qualified to command all types of warships. He is also an aviator and a Sea Diver; and recipient of various awards including ‘Nao Sena Medal’ by the President of India, Prime Minister Award and C-in-C Commendation.

Captain Pravin Raghuvanshi is also an IIM Ahmedabad alumnus. His latest quest involves social media, which is filled with rich anonymous literature of nameless writers, shared on different platforms, like, WhatsApp / Facebook / Twitter / Your quotes / Instagram etc. in Hindi and Urdu, he has taken the mantle of translating them as a mission for the enjoyment of the global readers. नफरत  तक  भी

क्यूँ  करें  उससे,

☆ लघुकथा # 180 ☆ “ऐसा भी होता है…” ☆ श्री जय प्रकाश पाण्डेय ☆

नर्मदा जी के किनारे एक श्मशान में जल रहीं हैं कुछ चिताएं। राजू ने बताया कि उनमें से बीच वाली चिता में कपाल क्रिया जो सज्जन कर रहे हैं वे फारेस्ट डिपार्टमेंट के बड़े अधिकारी हैं, इसीलिए चिता चंदन की लकड़ियों से सजाई गयी है,और उसके बाजू में जो चिता सजाई जा रही है, वह गरीबी रेखा के नीचे जीवन यापन करने वाले अति गरीब की है।

उनके लोगों का कहना है कि जितनी लकड़ियां तौलकर आटो से आनीं थीं, उसमें से बहुत सी लकड़ियां आटो वाला चुरा ले गया। किन्तु, ऐसे समय कुछ कहा नहीं जा सकता, न शिकायत की जा सकती है,  क्योंकि, आजकल लोग बात बात में दम दे देते हैं, अलसेट दे देते हैं और काम नहीं होने देते।

गरीब मर गया तो आखिरी समय भी उसके साथ गेम हो गया। गरीब के रिश्तेदारों ने बताया कि जलाने के लिए ये जो लकड़ियां ख़रीदीं गईं थीं, उसके लिए पैसे उधार लिए गए थे। इसके बाद भी गरीब का दाहसंस्कार करने के लिए तत्पर बेटे को इस बात से खुशी है कि पिताजी ने जरूर कोई पुण्य कार्य किए होंगे, तभी इतने अमीर की चिता के बाजू में स्थान मिला, और बाजू की चिता से जलती हुई चंदन की लकड़ी का धुंआ उनकी चिता को पवित्र करेगा और वैसा ही हुआ। चिता को अग्नि दी गई और हवा की दिशा बदल गई। चंदन की लकड़ी से उठता हुआ धुआं गरीब की चिता में समा गया। श्रद्धांजलि सभा में कहा गया उसने जीवन भर गरीबी से संघर्ष किया पर वो पुण्यात्मा था, तभी तो ऐसा चमत्कार हुआ।

(आपसे यह  साझा करते हुए हमें अत्यंत प्रसन्नता है कि  वरिष्ठतम साहित्यकार आदरणीय  डॉ  कुन्दन सिंह परिहार जी  का साहित्य विशेषकर व्यंग्य  एवं  लघुकथाएं  ई-अभिव्यक्ति  के माध्यम से काफी  पढ़ी  एवं  सराही जाती रही हैं।   हम  प्रति रविवार  उनके साप्ताहिक स्तम्भ – “परिहार जी का साहित्यिक संसार” शीर्षक  के अंतर्गत उनकी चुनिन्दा रचनाएँ आप तक पहुंचाते  रहते हैं।  डॉ कुंदन सिंह परिहार जी  की रचनाओं के पात्र  हमें हमारे आसपास ही दिख जाते हैं। कुछ पात्र तो अक्सर हमारे  आसपास या गली मोहल्ले में ही नज़र आ जाते हैं।  उन पात्रों की वाक्पटुता और उनके हावभाव को डॉ परिहार जी उन्हीं की बोलचाल  की भाषा का प्रयोग करते हुए अपना साहित्यिक संसार रच डालते हैं। आज  प्रस्तुत है  एक बेहतरीन व्यंग्य  ‘हमारी आँख की कंकरी- भेड़ाघाट’। यह  व्यंग्य विनम्रतापूर्वक  उन सब की  ओर से है जो दर्शनीय स्थल वाले शहरों में रहते हैं। अब इसे लिख दिया तो लिख दिया – ताकि सनद रहे और वक्त जरूरत काम आये। ऐसे अतिसुन्दर व्यंग्य के लिए डॉ परिहार जी की  लेखनी को  सादर नमन।)

☆ व्यंग्य – हमारी आँख की कंकरी- भेड़ाघाट ☆

शुरू शुरू में भेड़ाघाट देखा तो तबियत बाग-बाग हो गयी। बड़ा रमणीक स्थान लगा। दो चार बार और देखा। फिर हुआ यह कि हमारी शादी हो गयी और हम जबलपुर में सद्गृहस्थ के रूप में स्थापित हो गये। फिर जबलपुर के बाहर से हमारे परिचित भेड़ाघाट देखने आने लगे और हमारे पास रुकने लगे। तब हमें महसूस हुआ कि वस्तुतः भेड़ाघाट उतना सुन्दर नहीं है जितना हम समझते थे। भेड़ाघाट के दर्शनार्थियों की संख्या बढ़ने के साथ उसका सौन्दर्य हमारी नज़र में निरन्तर गिरता रहा है। और अब तो यह हाल है कि कभी भेड़ाघाट जाते हैं तो ताज्जुब होता है कि इस ऊबड़खाबड़ जगह में लोगों को भला क्या सौन्दर्य नज़र आता है। मेरे खयाल से यह अनुभूति उन सभी लोगों को होती होगी जो दर्शनीय स्थानों में रहते हैं।

घर में जब कोई अतिथि आते हैं तो नाश्ते के बाद वे मुँह पोंछकर पूछते हैं, ‘हाँ भाई, जबलपुर में कौन कौन सी दर्शनीय जगहें हैं?’और मेरा कलेजा नीचे को सरक जाता है। यह भेड़ाघाट इतना प्रसिद्ध हो चुका है कि अगर मैं दाँत निकालकर कहूँ, ‘अरे भाई, जबलपुर में दर्शनीय स्थल कहाँ?’ तो पक्का लबाड़िया साबित हो जाऊँगा।

और फिर मुहल्ले के कुछ महानुभाव मेरी  चलने भी कहाँ देते हैं। मुहल्ले के दुबे जी, पांडे जी या चौबे जी मेरे अतिथि को सड़क पर रोक कर परिचय प्राप्त करते हैं। फिर कहते हैं, ‘यहाँ तक आये हैं तो भेड़ाघाट ज़रूर देखिएगा, नहीं तो घर जाकर क्या बतलाइएगा?’ मेरा मन होता है कि पांडे जी से कहूँ कि महाराज,वे घर जाकर जो कुछ भी बतायें, लेकिन मैं उनके जाने के बाद आपको ज़रूर कुछ बताऊँगा। और मैंने कई बार ऐसे उत्साही लोगों की खबर भी ली है, लेकिन सवाल यह है कि संसार में किस किस मुँह पर ढक्कन लगाऊँ?

मैं कई लोगों को भेड़ाघाट के प्रभाव के विरुद्ध संघर्ष करते और हारते देखता हूँ। एक मित्र के घर पहुँचता हूँ तो वहाँ अतिथि देवता विराजमान हैं। स्वल्पाहार के बाद वे मित्र से पूछते हैं, ‘हाँ,तो आज दिन का क्या प्रोग्राम है?’ मित्र महोदय दाँत भींचकर उत्तर देते हैं, ‘आज तो भोजन के बाद छः घंटे निद्रा ली जाए। ‘ अतिथि देव सिर हिलाकर हँसते हैं, कहते हैं, ‘उड़ो मत। मैं भेड़ाघाट देखे बिना नहीं मानूँगा। ‘ मित्र भी हँसता है, लेकिन उसकी हँसी देखकर मुझे रोना आता है।

भेड़ाघाट ने जबलपुर वालों की खटिया वैसे ही खड़ी कर रखी है जैसे ताजमहल ने आगरा वालों की खाट खड़ी कर रखी है। नगर निगम वालों ने हमारी मुसीबत लंबी करने के लिए भेड़ाघाट में नौका-विहार की व्यवस्था कर दी है। उस दिन राय साहब रोने लगे। बोले, ‘भैया, कल मेहमानों को भेड़ाघाट ले गया था। डेढ़ हजार रुपया समझो नर्मदा जी में डूब गया। अब खजुराहो देखने की जिद कर रहे हैं। बहकाने की कोशिश कर रहा हूँ, लेकिन सफलता की आशा कम है। ‘ उन्होंने ऐसी निश्वास छोड़ी कि मेरी कमीज़ थरथरा गयी।

अब पछताता हूँ कि कहाँ दर्शनीय स्थल वाली नगरी में फँस गया। मैं तो भारत सरकार से गुज़ारिश करना चाहता हूँ कि भेड़ाघाट को कहीं दिल्ली के पास स्थानांतरित कर दिया जाए ताकि जबलपुर वालों का यह ‘तीरे नीमकश’ निकल जाए  और शहर को राहत का अहसास हो। हम सरकार बहादुर के बेहद मशकूर होंगे।

Laughter Yoga is a unique concept of prolonged voluntary laughter created by an Indian physician Dr Madan Kataria in the year 1995 in Mumbai. We begin laughter as an exercise and it soon becomes contagious by eye contact and childlike playfulness.

All of them have a brief tryst with Laughter Yoga during their stay here. They organized a brief learning session encompassing the 4 basic steps of laughter yoga and videographed it. ☆ Laughter Yoga at Nestle Nutrition Quality College

We conducted a session of Laughter Yoga followed by Laughter Meditation and Guided Relaxation at the Nestle Nutrition Quality College 2013, Samalkha, India. It included delegates from the Nestle head-quarters at Vevey, Switzerland, Sweden and zone Asia-Oceania-Africa countries including China, Singapore, Indonesia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and India.

The participants felt deeply relaxed and cheerful after the session. One of them expressed, “There is a lot of stress in professional life. We laugh very rarely. Laughter Yoga is an amazing way to play and energize. It can do wonders at the workplace.” Another participant shared, “I thought I am not going to laugh as I do not laugh often. After initial clapping and chanting, my inhibitions had gone away and I started laughing freely. I don’t remember when I laughed like this last time.”

Last year, we were invited by Nestle India Limited to conduct Laughter Yoga at their Safety-Health-Environment workshop for zone Asia-Oceania-Africa at Marriott Resort, Goa. A few months ago, Jagat conducted three sessions of Laughter Yoga for the staff of Nestle factory at Samalkha, India. Nestle’s continuous engagement with Laughter Yoga is an indication of the deep value and utility discovered by the corporate world in Laughter Yoga.

Abercrombie & Kent, the world’s leading authority on luxury and experiential travel, has discovered great value in Laughter Yoga.

Their Executive Vice President Simon Laxton is looking at ways to bring this concept to their annual Las Vegas ‘highest level’ meeting and also the London one. Their Managing director of India, Vikram Madhok, has expressed an interest in using Laughter Yoga for cruise line tours and as part of their India Cultural Lecturer program.

Dr Madan Kataria, the founder of Laughter Yoga movement, deputed us from Indore to showcase Laughter Yoga before senior level executives of Abercrombie & Kent at the picturesque city of Udaipur. Twenty-six delegates had gathered at Hotel Leela Palace Kempinski on the beautiful Pichola lake for their cruise conference 2013.

One of the delegates exclaimed on the completion of the laughter session, “In the beginning, it seemed a bit crazy. Then we started enjoying it. Now, we love it! It was simply fantastic!! We are feeling as free as birds in the sky..”

Another delegate shared his experience thus, “Two simple things that we learned just now – breathing and laughing from our diaphragm – have made us feel so light and relaxed. It’s a great feeling.”

This is what their global cruise ambassador, David Vass, based in Miami, had to say a couple of days after the laughter session, “Thank you for both of your excellent energy, understanding of our group time constraints and the delicious outcome you brought to us! Everybody truly enjoyed this session, especially in the middle of ‘budget day’! We referenced the Laughter yoga techniques throughout the remainder of the conference – making milkshakes, being an elephant and so many of the other happy little bits you supplied us with.”

☆ Laughter Meditation and Guided Relaxation sequence 

We have conducted some sessions of laughter yoga meditation and guided relaxation for the public and the response has been very fulfilling and encouraging. The sessions have enabled a number of participants to come over stress and other ailments. The routine is very effective to overcome stress and fatigue in the corporate world.

While the overall method remains the same as we do during the course of certified laughter yoga teacher / leader training, we give below a sequence that we usually follow. Some exercises are added/omitted looking to the audience and time.

Here we share the sequence with our laughter colleagues:

LAUGHTER MEDITATION SEQUENCE
BREATHING EXERCISES:
DEEP BREATHING, MINDFUL BREATHING, SYNCHRONISED OR DIAPHRAGMATIC BREATHING, ANULOM-VILOM, KAPAL BHATI.

WARMING-UP EXERCISES:
SITTING CALCUTTA LAUGHTER, DEEP BREATHING WITH HOLD IT – HOLD IT.

CHILDLIKE PLAYFULNESS:
VERY GOOD VERY GOOD YAY, GIBBERISH TALKING.

LAUGHTER EXERCISES:

☆ Laughter meditation is a beautiful experience 

Have you ever had the experience of laughter meditation? It is one of the most intense and beautiful experiences that you can ever have. But you have to experience it yourself. It is a mystery. It cannot be told in words by anyone to you.

When you laugh, you forget the past. You can’t bother about the future. And, you are oblivious of the surroundings. Laughter starts to flow like a fountain. There is no laughter, it’s only laughter. The laughter mingles with laughter and they become one. It is something Divine. It is pure and pristine bliss. The mind becomes serene and radiant like the full moon.

I have got my deepest fulfillment while conducting laughter meditation. The participants feel cathartic and fully liberated. All the pain and agony has gone. It feels so good and light. There is no trace of physical, mental or emotional stress anywhere near. Every molecule of the universe is tranquil. All the blockages are cleared. Consciousness flows happily and freely. You become a part of the joyous cosmic dance. A sufi inside you starts singing the most enchanting melodies.

Laughter opens a beautiful door to transcendence. Laughter meditation is a state of no mind. Complete mindlessness. But it is total existence. You have a feel of totality for the first time. It is a paradise that you can create on your own. Anytime, anywhere.

According to Dr Madan Kataria, the founder of laughter yoga, “ Laughter meditation is the purest kind of laughter and a very cathartic experience that opens up the layers of your subconscious mind and you will experience laughter from deep within.”

In some of the Zen monasteries, every monk has to start his morning with laughter, and has to end his night with laughter – the first and the last thing every day. Says Osho, “ If you become silent after your laughter, one day you will feel God also laughing, you will hear the whole existence laughing – trees and stones and stars with you!”

I recommend laughter meditation for all those who face a lot of stress at the workplace. It is also beneficial for students and homemakers.

Laughter Yoga – Touching Human Lives

(After a day’s break योग-साधना / LifeSkills is back with the amazing Laughter Yoga’s journey and experiments in Laughter Yoga of Shri Jagat Singh Bisht and Smt. Radhika Bisht.)

During the last hundred days, we (my wife Radhika and me) have laughed with more than a thousand people. It has really been a life changing experience! We are now proud to have a life skill with us with which we can connect to any group of people anywhere, anytime and make them laugh unconditionally. We feel cheerful throughout the day. The life is full of joy. We have converted our bodies into factories that utilize oxygen from the atmosphere, rejuvenate each and every cell of our system and manufacture feel good endorphins. We are as healthy and energetic as one can be, touch wood, and have not taken any medication since we turned Laughter Yogis. We feel deeply fulfilled as we are instruments of happiness and health for others and are able to touch their lives with a new joyous way of life. Our lives now have a meaning and a mission – to make others happy and healthy!

I had my tryst with Laughter Yoga one fine morning in Mumbai, more than a decade ago. Dr Madan Kataria and Madhuri Kataria, the founders of laughter yoga, were leading a laughter session in Lokhandwala park. The experience was simply out of the world! I had to wait for more than a decade after that. In the month of October 2010, Radhika and myself, along with more than 20 laughter professors from all over the globe, were baptised by Dr Kataria himself at Bengaluru.We have never looked back after that..

Here are some experiences shared by the members..

Let us begin with ourselves. The pain in my knee joints is a thing of the past. I get up early in the morning every day and work till late in the night without any feeling of fatigue. Radhika doesn’t need her blood pressure pills any more and her frequents bouts of sinusitis have simply disappeared.

Many among a group of newly promoted bank officers felt nervous to face the audience in their public speaking sessions. They were asked to join laughter yoga sessions, after which they shed all their inhibitions, and gathered the courage to speak freely.

Another group was required to appear for a tough test for promotion to the next cadre. They felt tired at the day end and had no energy left to study. Those who attended laughter exercises in the morning not only improved their attention span in classes but could also study for a couple of hours more in the evenings.

An elderly businessman felt severe pain in his neck which traveled across his shoulders and back. The pain was acute and disabling. After he joined our laughter club, the pain is gone. He has developed a regular habit of getting up and going for morning walk. His wife tells us that he seldom laughed earlier and never mixed socially with people. She is pleasantly surprised at the transformation.

An income tax officer, who has retired recently, has shared that his lungs are fully cleared after the laughter session and the feeling of freshness lingers throughout the day. We get feedback of feelings of well being, energy and health on a continual basis from our member friends.

We were also invited to conduct a laughter therapy session for about 80 persons in a camp organized recently by the National Institute of Naturopathy, Pune at the Naturopathy and Yoga Research Centre, Indore. The response was overwhelming. They found such great value in this alternate therapy that they decided to honour us on the spot after going through our session. The standing ovation, with chants of Very Good Very Good Yay, lasted for more than ten minutes..

We look forward to touch many lives with joy and bliss.
