☆ Weekly Column – Samudramanthanam -4  Lost of Shree ☆

Once there is a disagreement between Lord Brahma and Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva was not agreed that all the command of universe is given in the hands of Devtas and appoint Indra as king of heaven. Shiva didn’t do any prejudice between Devtas and Danvas. But this partiality by Brahma make Shiva angry. Shiva has decided that not to take participate on world affairs but anger start to appear around him in his aura. So finally, he decided to transfer his anger in tangible form and planned to transfer his anger to Anasuya, the wife of sage Atri. From this portion of Shiva deposited into Anasuya, a child was born, who was named ‘Durvasa’ (lit. one who is difficult to live with). Because he was born of Shiva’s anger, he had an irascible nature.

One fine day when ‘Durvasa’ doing meditation with his closed eyes. A garland was fall from heaven from the hands of an apsara, nymph and hold on the branch of one tree. Very sweet smell starts flowing all around from the flowers of that garland. All people near that area start losing their senses.

That garland falls in the neck of sage ‘Durvasa’ from that tree. He wore it on his brow. Resuming his wanderings, the sage came across Indra riding his elephant, Airavata, attended by the gods. Durvasa, still in his state of frenzy, threw the garland at Indra, who caught it and placed it on Airavata’s head. The elephant was irritated by the fragrance of the nectar in the flowers, so it threw the garland to the ground with its trunk. Durvasa was enraged to see his gift treated so callously and cursed Indra that he would be cast down from his position of dominion over the three worlds, just as the garland was cast down. Indra immediately begged Durvasa’s forgiveness, but the sage refused to retract or even soften his curse and went on his way. Because of the curse, Indra and the devas were diminished in strength and shorn of their luster. From this wife of Indra ‘Sachi’ who was the incarnation of goddess Lakshmi turns into statue of rock. the “Airavata’ also go deep in to ocean of Milk ‘Kshirasāgara’ and all the good and auspiciousness of Devtas lost as the reaction of this action.

Great sages suggest Indra and other Devtas to do a great scarify to get grace of goddess Lakshmi again on heaven and in the life of all Suras.

Many great sages gathered at the bank of river Sarasvati to do this yajna, scarify for Devtas. Bhrigu was arrogant and was filled with ahamkara Ego, due to his extreme austerities. At the time of yajna all the great saints and sages could not decide that out of the Trinity Lord Vishnu, Brahma, and Shiva to whom should they offer Pradhanta (Master) of that Yagya and to whom they have to scarify yajnas oblation. With the consent of all the great saints presents there, it was decided that Bhrigu will test and decide who was pre-eminent.

Upon being entrusted with the task Maharishi Bhrigu decided to test each of the Trimurti. Being ignored by Lord Brahma and Lord Shiva, he visited Lord Vishnu. Vishnu was asleep and Brighu kicked him in the chest to wake him up. Vishnu smilingly welcomed Bhrigu who realized his egotistical outbursts with extreme pain. He begged for forgiveness and Vishnu forgave him.

But from this action Wife of Lord Vishnu Goddess ‘Lakshmi’ got very upset and decided to future shrink her grace even from the life of sages and other living creatures of universe.

World without Lakshmi is more than horrible. All bad omen and actions are happening all around.

Seizing this opportunity, the Asuras led by Bali waged war against the gods. The gods were routed and turned to Lord Brahma for help. Lord Brahma directed them to seek refuge with Lord Vishnu. Lord Vishnu in turn, advised them to call a truce with the Asuras and work together with them to churn the ocean of milk and obtain the Amrita (nectar of immortality), on the pretext of sharing it with them. Lord Vishnu promised that he would ensure only the devas drank the Nectar and re obtain their former power so they could once again defeat the Asuras.

☆ Weekly column  Poetic World of Ms. Neelam Saxena Chandra # 47

☆ Hidimbi ☆

As he watched the Pandavas, a desire to kill

Mounted in Hidimba and his sister Hidimbi he asked

To go and lure the strong Bheema

And Hidimbi did confront him to complete the task.

However, seeing the well-built and handsome Bheema

For Hidimbi, it was love at first sight

A fight between Bheema and Hidimba ensued

Oh! It was a confrontation of might!

Contemplating that Hidimbi shall seek avenge

For her loving brother’s demise

Assumed Bheema that he should kill her too

After all, he had very little choice.

Hidimbi humbly pleaded to Kunti

To instruct Bheema to save her life

Implored to her that there was no hatred in her

Rather, she loved Bheema and wished to be his wife.

Accepted as a daughter-in-law by Kunti

Bheema and Hidimbi led a life wonderful

Was born a son, Ghatotkacha, out of the wedlock

And the world to Bheema seemed oh so beautiful!

However, his destiny lay elsewhere

Bheema could not have remained bounded for prolonged

In pursuit of his duty, Bheema had to move away

But for his wife and son’s love is always longed!

☆ Weekly Column ☆ From Nidhi’s Pen  #17 ☆

☆ Who will think about the teachers in this pandemic? ☆

When schools and colleges are closed salaries are cut down,

Money is not the only motivation, but love for students is the only crown,

Who will think about the teachers?

Digital transformation, PPT preparation before class,

Making a difference in the lives of students, the pain of hard work surpasses,

Who will think about the teachers?

Government concern about the student’s screen time,

But teachers’ attendance filling, online tests, completing syllabus on stipulated time,

Who will think about the teachers?

Parents are worried about their jobs and businesses,

The devotion of teachers, inspiration and appreciation seem nuisance,

Who will think about the teachers?

Teachers mold students’ mind, guide their thoughts,

They are building nations that is their fault,

Who will think about the teachers in this pandemic?

☆ Guru for the Kurus ☆

The princes of Hastinapur one fine day

Came out of the city to Vita-danda play

While they thus enjoyed the game, the vita fell

Into a well, to their horror and dismay.

The lost vita unable to reclaim

The princes looked at the well with disgust

When their glance fell upon a Brahmin

Who challenged them and cussed

“Shame on your courage, shame on merits;

That princes of Bharat’s race can’t vita recover!

Watch me salvage the lost vita and also my ring,”

Said the Brahmin and his ring into well hurled.

A cluster of reeds he uprooted

Some mantras and chants expressed

Made a chain by joining one reed to the next

With a smile, the lost vita he fetched

Then, an arrow he fired next from his bow

And with a lightning speed, the ring pierced

Came out the ring with the arrow

Holding it in his hand, the Brahmin sneered.

The speechless princes looked at him in disbelief

Saluted him for his expertise unique

Asked him his name and his history

“Ask Bheeshma!” he replied with mystique.

When Bheeshma was informed of the act

He knew, that the Brahmin was none other than Drona

Invited him with due respect to the Palace

A guru for the Kurus had been found  to their skills hone!

Hemant Bawankar

(All of the literature written by me was for self satisfaction. Now I started sharing them with you all. Every person has two characters. One is visible and another is invisible. This poem shows us mirror.  Today, I present my contemporary poem ‘War for …..’This poem has been cited from my book “The Variegated Life of Emotional Hearts”.))

My introduction is available on following links.

☆ Weekly Column – Abhivyakti # 21

☆  War for ….. ☆

I’m crawling

in the battlefield,

towards

widening jaws of death

ready to swallow me.

My heart is melting

with moans of wounded knights.

Lightening of shells

and

the thundering of bombs.

Instantaneous light smiles

incessant dark laughs

and

I’m hanging between them.

I’m feeling

What’s death?

Death is not so easy

as we think.

It’s far beyond

from imagination

and

at the point of

realism.

It is felt

once in a life.

Soul feeds

respiration and pulsation

to fulfil

the incessant hungry stomach

of wild death.

Those are lucky

who return

from jaws of death.

Their experiences and feelings

are far beyond

from our hypothesis.

Ah!

Oh! My God!

One more dead,

and one more will die;

may be me

or

yourself.

No;

I can’t fight

with life; for life

but,

I’ll not make

my hands up

I’ll wait

for death!

That dangerous death

in the lap of whose

thousands of knights slept

in battlefield

on the earth

vigorous than any world war

the life’s war!

Moments come and go,

but memories remain intact and you are always with me,

And make my life a beautiful endeavor.

You love me, care for me, adore me,

and give my life a new meaning,

And make my life a beautiful endeavor.

Words are less but expressions are more,

yesterday was pivotal and tomorrow will be limitless,

And make my life beautiful endeavor

I am Nidhi which means treasure,

but you make me Anupam Nidhi means unique treasure,

And make my life a beautiful endeavor.

When I was clueless you gave me courage and confidence,

you are always with me as a good friend,

And make my life a beautiful endeavor.

You are a perfect father and wonderful husband

And make my life an amazing endeavor.

☆ Weekly column  Poetic World of Ms. Neelam Saxena Chandra # 46

☆ For the sake of race ☆

Satyavati’s thoughts turbulent and tumultuous

The course of action she could conceive not

For her selfish ambition of being the maker of kings

From the throne, uprooted was Bheeshma in one shot.

Agreed she had to marry King Shantanu

Only under the condition that her sons be king crowned

Shantanu, with Satyavati besotted and mesmerized

Prince Bheeshma had to take a pledge, duty bound

Now that both her sons were without heir killed

She looked at her daughter-in-laws in disbelief

The only option was that Bheeshma become the king

And conceive sons from them, to everyone’s relief.

Nevertheless, Bheeshma, true to his words

To go back upon his vow and to oblige denied

Satyavati, finally, told him of his premarital son, Vyasa

Who, with Sage Parashar was visualized.

With the permission of Bheeshma for the sake of kingdom,

Sage Vyasa was summoned and to conceive sons ordered

In his state rowdy, was asked to mate Ambika and Ambalika

To preserve the race and carry on the lineage favoured.
