~ Between Mirrors… ~
☆
They sprout on stages
and harvest identities
tearing the syllables of “Left”
balancing communal noise
with official secular circles
Shaking hands with power
while cursing the system
grants, publications, awards
from rebel to sycophant
they live inside mirrors
wearing borrowed faces
They rename hesitation conscience
and market silence as wisdom
screens taught them
to turn presence into spectacle
I am not stunned by them
I am unsettled by ‘us’
When did the inter-line
between politics and literature vanish
we vent rage on screens
and walk away absolved
their acts are unsurprising
our acceptance is terrifying
their performance is old
our consent is the new tragedy
time kept passing
we kept our distance
and kept applauding
cursing quietly within
and somewhere inside
the inter-line kept watching us…
