? ~ Rugged Poetry… ??

“Poetry’s fingers dance

with tender ease,

Soft palms cradle like

cool gentle breeze

 *

Feet are adorned with

saffron creamy hue,

Milky soles that tread

on emerald dew

 *

Leaving whispers of

a gentle touch,

A delicate footprint,

Soft as fluffy clutch..!”

 *

In a classroom of worn

and weary elderly souls,

Reverberated teacher’s words,

weaving poetic goals…

 *

A laborer’s gaze drifted,

lost in her thought,

Her palms a map of toil,

her fingers fraught

 *

 Muddy feet, cracked heels,

a somber story told,

Of hands that labored,

withered  and  old

 *

She yearned to rise,

to voice her plight,

To shatter norms,

to claim her rights…

 *

“No, teacher!” she’d exclaim

with fervent zeal,

“Poetry’s rugged too,

and brutally real..!”

? ~ A Spark Away… ??

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Seeing the brazenness of the world
Ask me not how am I coping…
I’m sitting on a pile of explosives
And every person is a live fuse..
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

In a world that wears its

brazenness like sheep’s skin

Don’t ask me how have I

managed to cope within

*

As I sit on dynamite, a

precarious abode

Every other face a lit fuse,

waiting to explode

*

The air is charged with

tension’s spark

Each step a risk, each

word, charred dark

*

The world all-around is

nothing but a volatile sea

I’m just desperately trying

to stay afloat and free

*

Uncertainty rides the mind

with a heavy weight

A constant hum of a

potential dark fate

*

I’m navigating through

live wires and fire

Searching for a refuge a

place to peacefully retire

*

In this fragile balance

I precariously stand

A single misstep could

explode the land

*

Every moment, every day

a test of enduring will

A delicate dance on the

edge of a perilous hill

? ~ Fragility of Life… ??

(Air India crash was really very sad and disturbing… Such incidents shake the inner self… A few verses emerged out of this melancholic tragedy…)

In life’s fragile somber frame,

a shattering moment’s sway

Can shatter our frail destinies,

in the most unpredictable way

*

A vacation’s heavenly bliss,

Lost to terrorists’ cruel hand

Leaves innocent lives shattered,

in a far off unfamiliar land

*

A stadium’s roar, get crumpled

under a stampede’s deadly stride

Crushed lives, lie under a chaotic,

helter-skelter, panic ridden tide

*

A flight takes off with hundreds

onboard, having dreams galore

Crashes down in a jiffy, imperiled

in a fatal, unalarmed fiery eyesore

*

The students’ quiet hour, a cozy

Lunch break turning errant

Is ravaged by a plane’s weary

uncontrolled catastrophic descent

*

A life’s unpredictable trajectory,

altered in a heartbeat’s space

Leaves the loved ones shattered,

in a grief-filled hapless place

*

Frangible life’s uncertain hours,

a fragile, flickering dying flame

Dances with fate, in a capricious

and unpredictable fatal game

*

One moment’s calm, the next,

a life threatening tempest’s rage

Leaves us breathless, on a huge

sorrowful, death-dealing stage

*

Yet, in the face of misfortune

and uncertainty’s darkest night

We find resilience, in God’s kind and

gracious yielding, the divine light

? ~ Beguiling Spell…??

Though we  grasp  the truth,

yet we tend to fall for the lie,

Our discerning  minds, still

get fooled by guile and guise

 *

The charlatans weave their

enchanting  chiming  bells

And we, the mesmerized ones

get trapped, in deceitful spell

 *

In blind endearment, we

surrender our mind & sight,

And with the truth, distorted,

our wisdom loses its light

 *

The wise  and the fools, both

succumb to the temptations,

And in the darkness, we succumb

to such impulsive inclinations

? ~ An Angelic Salvation… ??

An angelic fairy with her

soul glowing brightly

Would dance on winds,

With melodies heavenly

Her  soul a  flame that

burned ever so brightly

A dreamer’s pure heart

that yearned infinitely

 *

But darkness crept in with

shadows  sinisterly  cold

A viley demon’s grasp that

cunningly sought to hold

 *

He weaved a vicious web

of deceit, trickery and pain

And clipped her wings, her

Spirited flight to enchain

 *

Her world shrank with heart’s

agony and the unbearable pain

A poison spread uncontrollably

with her resplendent aura slain

 *

The weight of her endless woes,

a mountain so  big and high

Menacingly threatened to crush

her spirits with a soaring sigh

 *

Yet still she prayed to the God

Almighty with an earnest plea

To the ever merciful Lord above

Invoking, her soul be to be free

 *

And He in merciful compassion

hears  all  her  desperate  call

Guides her back  home to avoid

her agonies and sufferings tall

 *

In His ever cozy and warm lap

her  agonies  and  pains cease

Her spirit soars high again and

the heart finds the eternal peace

English Literature – Poetry ☆ ‘Maqbool Fida Hussain’ – within quotes! ☆ Hemant Bawankar ☆

Hemant Bawankar

(This poem has been cited from my book The Variegated Life of Emotional Hearts”.)

‘Maqbool Fida Hussain’ – within quotes! ☆ Hemant Bawankar ☆

(Birth – 17 September 1915 (Pandharpur) – Death 9 June 2011 (aged 95) (London, England))

Maqbool Fida Hussain

Master of all arts

an immortal legend

an eminent artist

an eminent Indian

beyond the definition of

so-called “citizen”.

One can’t bind

an artist

or

an author

within boundaries of the nations

who fought

are fighting

with a mission

for

‘freedom of expression’.

He/She may be

Joseph Brodsky;

Tasleema Nasreen

or Maqbool Fida Hussain

living

or

lived in exile

with a painful smile.

Not only his arts

but

his sayings too

enthral me

strongly

and

deeply invokes

and that

I would like

to keep within quotes.

He says –

“I am in ecstasy

for the last forty years

creating films

writing few words

 here and there

creating the vision.”

“I have expressed

only ten percent

and

ninety percent is

still inside.

I have to take that

with me

to my grave.”

“It’s God’s gift!

Pardon my insolence

but,

I observe the world

with a child’s eyes.

To me

each day

the world unfolds

like a magic box

full of surprises

resplendent

with colour’s exercises.”

“Nudity

in Hindu culture

is a metaphor for purity.

Would I insult that

which

I feel so close to?”

“Citizenship and passport

are simply a matter

 a piece of paper.”

“Remaining as an Indian

would be

my birthright.”

“I crave to come back.

How can anyone

forget

the mother’s lap

that nurtured him?”

“Death!

has never scared me.

I believe

an afterlife

and

nothing dies.

It is just

a point of transition

a change of grab.”

“I am just

a living being

in the universe

created by the God!

I will have

a small patch of land

where

I am going to be buried.”

And, finally

he has been buried

like rest of the artists

and authors

with his unexpressed

ninety percent

to his grave

in so-called exile

with

a painful smile.

? ~ Harvest of Potentiality… ??

Within us lies a huge fertile land of

perseverance and immense might,

Where potentiality’s seed germinates

and grows with unhackneyed light

Clouds of the promised adroitness

precipitate with the fecund rain,

Fuelled by the deep emotions and

passions, get ignited to sustain

 *

The drudgery of daily moil & toil,

as struggles we’re forced to face,

They’re but the crucibles that refine,

and define our inner most space

 *

Power  to  unleash  our  greatness

lies within our grasp so fine,

A spark that lies dormant to ignite,

to illuminate our path so divine

? ~ After I’m Gone… ??

When I’m gone, who’ll claim my

prayer mat’s solace?

In the wilderness, no void will remain,

my absence a solemn place

 *

The sword of cruelty that you

wielded against me,

Will find no other heart to bleed, no

other soul to set free

 *

You didn’t even bother to recall my

memory after I was gone

Yet, you complained to my enemies,

a heartless gesture, a hollow tone

 *

The market of love flourishes

only because of me,

For who would believe in loyalty,

if not for my legacy?

 *

With rose petals shrouding my face,

nightingales will sing their dirge,

The morning breeze will scatter dust,

a melancholy will emerge

 *

I tore the clothes in great anguish,

a tethered soul, torn apart,

Lest no one unfasten your buttons, a

gesture that’d shatter my heart

 *

She may adorn her hands with henna,

With a smile on her face,

But its crimson hue will bring tears,

a sorrowful, haunting pace

 *

I departed the garden, after the

flowers wilted and fell apart

Once I’m gone, why should I bother

if flowers bloom or break heart

 *

I was the morning’s earliest visitor

in the garden, the gentlest soul,

Zephyr’s whispers came in thereafter

Once I played my hearty role

 *

Who’ll stroll through its flowery

paths, after I’m gone?

Will anyone cherish its beauty,

or sing the songs, alone?

 *

Your visit to my home, upon hearing

the news of my demise,

Proved my steadfast loyalty, as you

also honoured your promise

 *

My killer, so ashamed now, laid

down the dagger’s blade,

A lesson learned, a price paid, in the

gory silence that’s made

 *

My melodies gave life to the

garden’s throbbing heart,

The hunter freed all the birds, as

they flew off to a new start

 *

I, a fool, entangled in her tresses,

a captive of insane love,

No other soul will ever fall prey,

to her charms sent from above

 *

You may take my life, but lasting

regret will be your guide,

For none like me, devoted to love,

will ever come, in your life

 *

The morning breeze brought rose

petals to my resting place,

A final farewell, a last goodbye,

in the silent soulful space

 *

In the gatherings, when my name

is whispered or called loud,

A teardrop will fall from your eyes,

a guiltful sorrow that will shroud

 *

In the execution yard, I pondered

with an anguished sigh,

Who’ll be the next to meet his fate,

like this and wonder why?

 *

Our bond was built on trust, on

the love’s purest flame,

Forget me, don’t recall, when I’m gone,

Afterall, it’s just a divine game

? ~Frozen Icy Hearts…??

O’ Sun! Why are you so needlessly

spreading your warmth far and wide

People of this dreaded ice-cold town,

now, have their hearts frozen-died

Melting souls, once warm and true,

Now frozen like iceberg, in all they do

The city’s pace, once a frantic beat,

Drops love and care, as distant treat

 *

They’re a big crowd, but selfishly alone,

Their icy hearts offer no skills to hone

Never do they chase a dream, at any cost

Their hearts, once full, now forever lost

?Unbelievable Human Race??

In bygone era, a divine

human breed did thrive,

With hearts aglow, and

the compassion alive

They’d carry sugar’s casket,

a complimentary treat,

For tiny ants’ feed, a sweet

gesture,  oh  so  sweet

 *

On rooftops high, they’d willfully

spread  the  millet  grains

For birds to happily feast, in

Sunshine, wind or the rains

 *

They kept at their doors, water

filled, cauldrons very huge

For the parched throats animals

a thirst  quenching  refuge

 *

Their tables nicely laid out, for

a feast for more and more

Cows, birds, and beasts, all

gathered ‘neath their door

 *

When bird flocks descended,

they’d welcome with glee,

“God’s  birds, God’s  fields,

eat carefree and fly free..!”

 *

They’d guide the lost strangers

with love and gentle care,

Hospitality, greetings and food

they  would  always share

 *

Their courteous such behaviour,

an unending, timeless  tale,

Shall break all the epochal

barricades; forever, to prevail

 *

May their saga live on forever

as  a  path-guiding  light,

A timeless testament to love,

That’ll ever shine so bright

In memory of such good samaritans,

a  museum  must  be  created

For benefit of coming generations,

Their work, must be celebrated
