? ~ The Instrument??

 One more man merged today

into the eternal Silence

the same breathless hush

that once carried him here…

 *

His name covered by dust

yet the wind still murmured

with the haunting questions

he left behind unanswered…

 *

Where did we wander

before the first light found us

and where shall we drift

after the last flame folds away…

 *

Perhaps the human heart

is only a fleeting lantern

lit not to banish darkness

but to reveal its hidden face…

 *

Perhaps we are not

seekers at all but quiet reeds

through which the Infinite

sings its strange longings…

 *

And when all dissolves

only the hush remains

where the Eternal listens

to its own unending questions…

? ~ When Doubts Bloom… ??

They called them fears

I kept finding

potential within them…

Now I wonder

why potential

has begun to fear

its own becoming; and,

in its ever-blooming eyes

have grown

cacti of doubt…

Why did it happen

that the deer

could not see the musk

within its own navel?

Oh!

How many days have passed

since a poem

was born in me?

They had

salted water

You had

a sweet spring

They called water

a product

You called thirst

a human need

Their growth

came bottled

Your water

stayed free

They sold thirst

You shared

divine reverence

Historic annals

will not count sales

Chronicles

will remember

who quenched a life..!

? ~ Out of the Box… ??

I kept drawing

measured lines

all my life

standard lines

systematic lines

approved lines

Yet nothing worked

Despite intense efforts

no identity emerged

neither personal

nor public

In frustration

I etched

crooked

awkward

senseless lines

without aim

without purpose

here and there

And suddenly,

lo and behold,

a miracle happened

I became a celebrity

Critics stood stunned

they said—

What a masterpiece

such craftsmanship of

out-of-the-box thinking

has never been seen before

I stood confused, bewildered

lines

frames

boxes

out-of-the-box

when did I ever

think of all this

at all…?

Time sits heavy upon my chest

a merciless moneylender

calling in every debt

with interest for the

moments I squandered

without meaning, without use

I stand exposed

answerless, wordless, bewildered

Tell me the truth

am I the only defaulter

or are you too

standing before time

awaiting the same reckoning…

? ~ The Cloak of Mirrors… ??

They arrive—

a faceless throng

cloaked in mirrored glass

each shard glinting

with someone else’s truth..

They spill into my town

like an omen in me

with multitudes of yields,

drawn and merged,

my shoulders claimed by

a mirror-cloak of my own…

The procession turns

toward caverns carved by fear,

haunted by what thrives in dark

There, a small man cowers,

—fleeing the reflection

that never stops pursuing him…

Thunderous echoes rise

he stumbles then turns back

as if defeat were shelter

The throng retreats

shadows trailing behind

the cavern bewilderedly

searching for the Sun…

I jolt awake

morning light softening the remnants

of that mirrored dream

still carrying the weight

of mystic visions

yet never fully mine…!

A tide of words rises in my throat

yet stills itself before it can erupt—

As though the inner light of being

has suddenly been shrouded in mist…

 *

And I begin to wonder—

what rare, compacted anguish it must be

that can turn the verdant to barren in a breath

and draw one who speaks and walks with ease

into an abyss of unsounded quietude..!

? ~ Dustiness of Vanity… ??

All those egomaniacs who occupied

the throne of conceited authority

Consumed by the false delusion

of being at par with the divinity

 *

Some blazed like infernos, others

shimmered like ephemeral blaze

Grandiose arrogance danced openly

with their shady reputation, ablaze

Where’re those fea*rsome ones now,

who once spelt un*speakable evils

Vanquished in the annals of time,

reduced to dust, all those devils

 *

Their ignonamious legacies erased,

their memories too, lost in the haze

Their evil deeds summarily forgotten,

in the passage of time’s distant gaze

?~ March in Step... ~??

When life met me in the past,

it showed me dreams of tomorrow…

When she met me now,

It whispered memories of the past.

Listen, O life!

Walk in step with me —

abreast, just once,

and dare to voice the present,

thunderously…for a change…!

English Version by – Captain Pravin Raghuvanshi

?~ Wings... ~??

Long ago, you severed

the wings I carried

Fearing I might rise beyond your reach

Yet some unseen strength within me

taught me to soar high

Defying your will… by a miracle

I never understood…

Perhaps it was my quiet rebellion

Against a world that binds a woman

to four unyielding walls

I still remember a line from an

old famous Hindi film:

“Women of honour,

Do not mistake the walls of a home

for chains”

Yet, I crossed the threshold

Claiming myself at last

Feeling, deep within, a thrusting joy

As though every poem of freedom

I had ever written

Rose like dawn inside my being…

But now, in this dusk-lit hour

When illness has shadowed your body

You have not clipped my wings

Yet you have named my confinement

In the gentlest disguise; as ‘Pativrata’

–the sacred duty of a faithful wife…!

My fire has softened too

And I, too, have quietly closed

Every door of my own heart

Is this the repentance or

surrender of my womanhood…?

I knoweth not…!
