? ~ Still Seeking… ??

Silence is sown, allowed to take a root

deep within, where pauses ripen to fruit

*

In spaces between lines, soft whispers play

Call it a greed —or an inward, quiet sway

*

Not for words, but all they awaken, inspire

Each silence stirs, lifting higher and higher

*

Hidden meanings gather, learning to rejoice

till every hush is shaped into a legible voice

*

Let the poem deepen, transform and unfold

Something vast, with umpteen layers untold

*

Still seeking beyond every summit and peak

for what no word can ever hold it or speak

It was the first rain of the season…the heavenly petrichor –the proverbial Mitti ki Sugandh, enveloped the environment… Here’s a little tribute to this celestial occurrence…

~ Pravin Raghuvanshi

The first drop falls, the earth exhales,

A primal scent through the silent trails

It envelops unseen, as it claims the air

A scent unfolding nature’s blissful flair

Not merely the soil, but a time set free

Expanding endlessly, like a Banyan tree

It moves with wind, so tender and sure

An ever fleeting breath, deep and pure

No voices, no forms, yet it’s everywhere

A rampant hush, a fragrant sacred prayer

Never does it fade, nor does it drift apart

Till rain-soddened soul lands in the heart

? ~ Beyond the Horizon… ??

My subtle vision is expanding

beyond the very vault of the sky

where the dominion of words dissolves

and the vast realm of feeling begins

*

There I behold the rising

of a new limitless horizon

Where the frantic race of civilization fades

and the heartbeat of creation can be heard

where it is not the eyes that see

but the inner soul that perceives

*

And there dwells poetry

like a loving tribal mother

who sits in quiet stillness

giving birth to the future

My subtle vision continues

to expand beyond the sky itself

unfolding a new horizon

leading into a pristine era…!

? ~ Hard Work… ??

Some palms kept scooping water

diligently from the swamp,

Kept sprinkling it drop by drop over

the perennially dry arid land…

The world kept mocking at their

ignorance imbued chutzpah…

With the passage of time,

although the desert didn’t get drenched

but a landscaped lush green forest

replaced the quagmired land…

Never did they give excuses for the

lack of resources,

But with the dogged perseverance,

They kept accomplishing all the

goals till all were achieved, vindicating

the adage resolutel: “ Consistent hard-work

with determination always yields results!”

? ~ The Rock… ??

I stand

a weathered rock

midstream

She flows

a fervent river

around me

They praise her grace

her shining movement

and call me impassive

unyielding, even frigid

They do not know

How once

she emptied into me

her storms

her anger

her unrest

Held to my chest

she wept uncontrollably

until her melancholy dissolved

She grew light

and flowed again

While I wilfully

absorbed her every surge

and stood silent…

In keeping her moving

something within me

kept drying…

She became

more river

I became

more stone

Now she sparkles

in full current

And still they say

Every river

needs

a rock…!

Small canvases,

they say,

are my poems.

And she, in her

   innocent wonder,

believes I shape

only her

into my verses…

Little do they know

If only I could write

her completely—

the canvas of my poetry

would expand

beyond the horizon

into infinite consciousness..!

? ~ Glacier of the Unspoken… ??

Within me rests a

timeless stillness

Layer upon layer

of unshed epochs

It appears frozen yet

beneath its crystal hush

something moves

Not with the noise

nor with any urgency

But with the patience of

mountains recounting time

You wait for thunders

for the triumph of words

I dwell like an iceberg

where silence ripens

Where truth stands bare

untouched by the mist

In this white immensity

even quietude burns

Flow is not of frenzy of motion

It is the continuity of being

Unrushed and unbroken

Still —ceaselessly and

forever in its endless way…!

He never became

A parable to be cited

Nor a copy to be emulated

When crowds moved

to borrowed rhythms…

He chose to walk

by his own breath

When people chimed

others’ songs

He sang his own melody

in his own voice…

Where thrones

were raised

from endless comparisons

He quietly claimed

his own ground…

No names borrowed

No faces worn

No voices imitated

He remained whole

Within what he

truly was…

Time changed

Many masks

Yet his being

Stood unmoved

in its own place…!

English Literature – Poetry ☆ The Trial of Sleep…/नींद का मुक़दमा… ☆ Captain Pravin Raghuvanshi, NM ☆

? ~The Trial of Sleep??

Sleep erased even the address of my home

Darkness stole from me the right to my name

 *

Dreams grew weary, slipping down my lids

Wakeful eyes lost even the right to sleep

 *

I burned myself like a helpless, forsaken flame

Night too denied me the right to light

 *

Sleep became a dove and flew into the sky

Carrying my peace and solace away

 *

The past shackled my breaths in heavy chains

The present slaughtered even my tomorrow

 *

Even their enmity was not without decorum

They killed my sleep, yet raised no cry

 *

Aftab, to whom shall I complain of sleep now

That tyrant parts me from myself every night
